Solar Calculator for Pakistan: System Size, Cost and Savings
Enter your city and electricity bill to estimate a suitable solar system size, potential savings, and payback period — for example, how many solar panels a Rs 25,000 bill needs.
How the solar calculator works
The calculator turns your monthly units into daily use, then divides by the peak sun hours for your city and allows about 20% for system losses. The result is rounded to the nearest half kilowatt and capped by your available roof area. Panel count assumes 550W panels.
Cost uses planning rates of about Rs 140 per watt for on-grid, Rs 170 per watt for hybrid and Rs 200 per watt for off-grid systems. Real quotations vary with brands and site conditions; see the Solar Price Index for current listed prices.
Quick sizing table (Karachi)
| Monthly units | System size | 550W panels |
|---|---|---|
| 300 | 2.5–3 kW | 5–6 |
| 500 | 4–5 kW | 8–9 |
| 700 | 5.5–6 kW | 10–11 |
| 1,000 | 8 kW | 14–15 |
| 1,500 | 11.5–12 kW | 21–22 |
Lahore and Islamabad get slightly less sun, so size about 10% larger there.
Common questions
How many solar panels do I need for my bill?
Work from units, not rupees. In Karachi each 1 kW of panels produces about 130 units a month, so 500 units needs roughly 4–5 kW, or 8–9 panels of 550W.
How accurate is this solar calculator?
It gives a planning estimate from your city's sunlight, monthly units and roof area. Installers confirm the final size and price after a site survey.
Is the solar calculator free?
Yes. It is free to use, and you can request quotations from three verified installers from your result if you want exact prices.
